Let’s think big. As we get older and have a lot more to lose, we take far fewer risks. As a younger man, without a large mortgage, kids and the habit of going on holiday every year, we take a lot more risks. We’re bold. But as we get older, we lose bolder. Be bold. Don’t think small. Fortune favours the brave. Rather than taking small steps, making small decisions and thinking small, think big.
There is a massive world of unknown out there. We take a step away from it. There is too much to lose. These risks are for other people, aren’t they? No! Be bold. It will change your life.
Think about this in different terms. If you wok for yourself, then being bold can help you drive that business forward. The more courageous you are today, the bigger the prize at the end of all this. If you work for someone else, then going for bold might look and feel a little different. But think of Jerry Maguire, and you have the right idea. Stretch your mind and your ambitions far. Don’t settle for the status quo.
When you look back on your life, the times where there was a risk, some excitement and a challenge are the ones that stand out. They are the times that excite you. The ones where you just stayed doing the same old thing just fade into the background.
Be Bold: Success
Here are the steps to being bold that can drive you forward –
- Make A Start. It’s as simple as that. If you don’t set out on the road, then you will never acheive anything big. It sounds simple, but is absolutely the first thing you must do.
- Be Clear. If you want something, then be absolutely clear on what you want – and what it takes to get there. The small, daily steps towards a goal are vitally important. Don’t be anything by chance. Be ‘on purpose.’
- Enthusiasm. Now we know this can sometimes come a little difficult to men approaching the age of fifty. Life has hacked away at the enthusiasm we naturally have when we’re younger. Look to gain your enthusiasm back and this will make a huge difference to your goals.
- Consistency. If you want to be bold, you must be consistent to go with it. Being full of enthusiasm one day and then having no interest the next can be a trait men approaching fifty fall into. But it makes your goals much more difficult to achieve.
If you have all of these factors, then you have a great chance of making it to whatever you want in life. We all have an idea of what we want in life. Sometimes it is a faint idea. For other people, it is a burning desire. The people who succeed are those who are bold. Be bold. The alternative is far less interesting!
